Background and Experience

Michelle’s experience lies in working with children, adolescents and young adults. As part of her training, Michelle worked with individuals experiencing a range of presenting concerns including anxiety, depression, emotion and behaviour regulation, social skills, parental guidance, relationship difficulties, ADHD and autism. In her enrolment in the Master programme, Michelle worked in schools, community organisations as well as government settings with individuals of different ages. With over a decade of experience in private clinics, Michelle has worked with both local and expatriate clients.

Therapeutic Approaches

Michelle uses evidence-based approaches informed by Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She believes in adopting a person-centred and collaborative approach with her client, while fostering a connection that is warm and authentic. Michelle is committed to empowering those in her care to overcome life’s various challenges in a safe and secure therapeutic environment. When engaging with young children and adolescents, Michelle is an advocate for the importance of working closely with parents and schools to address the individual needs of a child.

 Michelle also conducts Educational therapy sessions aimed at enhancing cognitive processes essential in a child’s development. She has provided therapy for clients from both mainstream and international schools, where she supports her clients with varied learning challenges. Through her working experience, Michelle has acquired training in the United States for intervention programs, which aid in developing sensory-cognitive processes involved in learning efficiently. She is a firm believer that motivation, self-efficacy and interest in learning are important forces in the process of gaining a sense of mastery.

In her free time, Michelle enjoys racket sports, travelling and taking long walks with her dog.
