Background And Experience
Courtney is an Australian-trained Clinical Psychologist with experience working across the lifespan. She has worked in public health, schools, community clinics, and private practice settings, supporting children, adolescents, and adults experiencing a range of complex mental health difficulties. Her clinical work has included mood and anxiety disorders, eating disorders, acquired brain injury (ABI), and adjustment-related challenges.
In addition to providing individual therapy, Courtney has facilitated ACT-based group programs for individuals with acquired brain injury, focusing on emotional adjustment, behavioural change, cognitive rehabilitation, and interpersonal relationships.
She is experienced in working within multidisciplinary teams and in liaising closely with a client’s broader support network, including GPs, psychiatrists, educators, and other allied health professionals, to ensure coordinated and holistic care.
Approach
Courtney adopts an integrative and client-centred approach to therapy, drawing from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and psychodynamic therapy. She is also trained in CBT-E (Enhanced Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) for eating disorders.
Rather than adhering to a single therapeutic modality, Courtney integrates these evidence-based approaches to best suit each individual’s unique goals.
She believes that therapy is most effective when it is collaborative, flexible, and tailored, and she works closely with clients to develop insight, practical strategies, and meaningful change. Courtney places strong emphasis on creating a comfortable, relaxed, and non-judgmental environment where clients feel safe to explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences.
More About Courtney
Courtney grew up in Melbourne, Australia. She enjoys travel, trying new foods and being active- she’s currently learning tennis (any tips welcome!).
Testimonials From Clients & Health Provider Partners
Just wanted to highlight that my experience with Us was a very pleasant one from the start. My therapist, Ariel was a perfect fit for me. She made the sessions feel like a safe space, and was always celebrating my little victories with me. I look forward to every session knowing I was going to leave the room feeling a little bit more empowered, and that my time would be well spent. I would definitely recommend the clinic to all, and assure everyone that scheduling appointments are a breeze. The clinic is flexible and accommodating too.
Overall, I'm quite happy. I feel Ariel is supportive and patient with me, even when I keep going back to the same topics over and over.
