Karen - Us Therapy

Karen Ang

Counsellor-in-Training

Karen is currently completing a Master of Counselling at Monash University, where she specialised in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy.

Having gained valuable hands-on experience through volunteer counselling work with local organisations, Karen has engaged with individuals across all life stages – from teenagers navigating growing pains, to adults managing careers and relationships, and seniors facing life transitions. Her counselling approach is grounded in listening, empathy, and creating a safe, non-judgmental space where clients feel heard and supported.

Having personally experienced the power of therapy during particularly challenging times in her life, Karen is deeply passionate about walking alongside others when things feel overwhelming, and helping them find clarity, healing, and strength. Her personal journey inspired her to pursue a career in therapy and counselling.

Prior to embarking on this counselling path, Karen graduated with a Bachelor (Honours) of Business and spent 25 years in senior leadership roles within multinational corporations. This gave her a unique perspective on the pressures faced by professionals juggling high-stake careers, families, and personal well-being.

Warm, relatable, and grounded in real-life experience, Karen is married (27 years and counting) and has a 21-year-old daughter. Outside of work, she loves long walks, practices qigong, and indulges in kdramas.

Karen is a counsellor-in-training under the supervision of Ariel Ko at Us Therapy.
