Background And Experience
Henny has extensive experience working with children, adolescents and adults across a variety of settings including hospitals and the private sector.
In her previous role as a senior psychologist at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH; local public hospital), Henny was also part of the specialised and multidisciplinary Eating Disorder Service and helped to oversee the operations of the Adolescent Psychology Team.
She has specific training and experience in treating children, adolescents and adults struggling with various forms of eating disorders including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge-eating disorder and avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID).
In addition to individual therapy, Henny has also helped to develop and/ or facilitate a variety of group therapy programs and workshops (e.g. dialectical behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, workshop for caregivers of children with eating disorders).
Approach
Henny’s intervention approach is one that is eclectic and she believes in tailoring therapy to best fit the needs of her clients by integrating relevant psychological techniques and theories with flexibility and creativity. She is committed to providing a safe space for clients in therapy to work through their difficulties collaboratively with warmth and curiosity. When engaging with children and adolescents, Henny believes in the importance of working closely with families and schools, while simultaneously empowering her clients to overcome various life challenges.

Beyond direct clinical work, Henny is passionate about increasing mental health awareness. She has been invited to publish articles and deliver talks and interviews on multiple platforms to share insights on mental health-related issues with various stakeholders. She also provides clinical supervision to psychologists-in-training, as well as fully qualified clinical psychologists.
Having lived abroad in the UK and Australia whilst pursuing her education and training, together with her extensive experience working with both local and expat clients from diverse cultural backgrounds, Henny is familiar with the challenges that come with adjusting to different countries and cultures.
