Background And Experience
Dr Ariel Ko is a Canadian-trained clinical psychologist from the University of British Columbia (UBC) and a full member of the Singapore Psychological Society (SPS).
Ariel has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families, with particular expertise in anxiety, relationship challenges, and perfectionism. She has worked across hospital, university, and private practice settings, which has allowed her to support a diverse range of clients across different stages of development and care.
In addition to providing individual therapy, Ariel has also led multi-family and individual-family Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) group sessions. Through these structured programs, she teaches skills that strengthen emotion regulation, distress tolerance, conflict resolution, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness within families.
During her time at BC Children’s Hospital, Ariel administered cognitive, intellectual, and academic assessments on preschool-aged children born extremely premature (< 28 weeks gestational age), supporting their developmental progress and offering tailored recommendations to ease their transition into primary school.
Aside from clinical work, Ariel’s research focuses on the contributing roles of attachment styles and parenting behaviours in the development of perfectionism among children and adolescents. She has several publications related to the development and treatment of perfectionism.
Approach
Ariel adopts an integrated therapeutic approach using evidence-based treatments, such as Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), psychodynamic therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). These approaches are well supported in research, and meaningful commitment promotes lasting changes.
Ariel provides a warm, safe, and non-judgmental space for people who are embracing change, growth, healing, and new perspectives. She tailors her approach to suit the distinct challenges and unique backgrounds of each client, ensuring a personalized and effective experience. Therapy with Ariel is collaborative, with an emphasis on establishing a strong therapeutic connection to navigate the journey toward positive transformation and creating a life of colour and meaning.

Testimonials From Clients & Health Provider Partners
Just wanted to highlight that my experience with Us was a very pleasant one from the start. My therapist, Ariel was a perfect fit for me. She made the sessions feel like a safe space, and was always celebrating my little victories with me. I look forward to every session knowing I was going to leave the room feeling a little bit more empowered, and that my time would be well spent. I would definitely recommend the clinic to all, and assure everyone that scheduling appointments are a breeze. The clinic is flexible and accommodating too.
Overall, I'm quite happy. I feel Ariel is supportive and patient with me, even when I keep going back to the same topics over and over.
