Background And Experience

Janice is a clinical psychologist with training across several areas of psychological practice, including educational and child-focused work, and support for adults across a range of mental health concerns. She is passionate about fostering psychological wellbeing through evidence-based, compassionate approaches tailored to each individual’s needs. Janice is an advocate for the child’s voice, and places strong emphasis on helping children feel heard, understood, and meaningfully included in the support process. She offers an integrative perspective grounded in both clinical and educational psychology.

Janice has completed her PsyD (Doctor of Psychology). Her doctoral research focused on postpartum mental health, exploring Postpartum Vulnerability in Highly Sensitive Mothers, and this work continues to inform her specialist clinical interests. She is deeply committed to supporting postpartum mothers, recognising how isolating the postpartum period can feel—particularly when nights are spent awake nursing a newborn and days are shaped by relentless sleep deprivation. Janice provides a compassionate, validating space to help mothers feel less alone, make sense of what they are experiencing, and build practical supports and coping strategies during this major life transition. Alongside this, she also provides structured assertiveness skills training for clients who want to build confidence in communication, set healthy boundaries, and express needs clearly—using practical tools, guided practice, and between-session exercises.

Janice has an added interest in psychological assessment, with experience conducting cognitive and educational assessments, and a growing scope across broader psychological assessment needs. She works with children, adolescents, and adults, including those experiencing school-related stress and educational pressure, as well as associated emotional and behavioural challenges. Her background also includes working as a special needs teacher supporting neurodivergent children, which has deepened her understanding of neurodevelopmental differences and inclusive, strengths-based approaches. Her experience supporting children, adolescents, and teachers has strengthened her ability to collaborate with families and schools in developing practical strategies that support learning and wellbeing.
