Background And Experience
Shiyu is a counsellor-in-training currently completing her Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology at Monash University.
Inspired by her own experiences, Shiyu is particularly interested in supporting adolescents and adults with eating disorders, perfectionism, stress and anxiety. She is also committed to supporting individuals working through family trauma, self-worth, and self-actualisation challenges.
Before beginning her clinical training, Shiyu spent 11 years as a financial research analyst. These experiences helped her appreciate and understand how high-pressure, high-performing environments can impact well-being, from stress and sleep difficulties to anxiety and self-doubt. Understanding these challenges helps her connect with others facing similar struggles and support them in finding balance, building resilience, and reconnecting with themselves.
Approach
Shiyu is devoted to person-centred, empathetic care, and aims to create a safe space to support individuals at any stage of their healing journey.
Her therapeutic approach, informed by her training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), helps individuals explore and make sense of their inner, unresolved thoughts and emotions, turning them into insight and a stronger connection with themselves.
She believes that everyone can draw on their inner strength and wisdom to support their own growth and healing.
More About Shiyu
In her personal time, Shiyu enjoys running in nature and meditation to reconnect with herself. Creative expression brings her joy, whether sewing dresses or exploring her fascination with astrology. She also finds inspiration and stillness in the quiet beauty of sunrises, sunsets, and stargazing.
Testimonials From Clients & Health Provider Partners
Just wanted to highlight that my experience with Us was a very pleasant one from the start. My therapist, Ariel was a perfect fit for me. She made the sessions feel like a safe space, and was always celebrating my little victories with me. I look forward to every session knowing I was going to leave the room feeling a little bit more empowered, and that my time would be well spent. I would definitely recommend the clinic to all, and assure everyone that scheduling appointments are a breeze. The clinic is flexible and accommodating too.
Overall, I'm quite happy. I feel Ariel is supportive and patient with me, even when I keep going back to the same topics over and over.
