Background And Experience

Arina Tengku Azman is a counsellor in training completing a Master of Counselling at Monash University. She believes every person deserves to be seen, heard, and supported in a non-judgmental space.

Before entering the counselling field, Arina spent over fifteen years in senior roles in governance and risk advisory, with assignments spanning Asia, Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. This experience has shaped a calm, grounded approach and a natural ability to connect with people across different backgrounds and contexts. She brings these strengths into her clinical work to build collaborative and trusting therapeutic relationships.

Arina also brings lived experience of grief, caregiving, and motherhood to the counselling space. These experiences have deepened her empathy and her appreciation of the broader systems family, cultural, and social that shape each person’s wellbeing. She is committed to meeting every client with curiosity and respect, and to ethical practice, ongoing supervision, and reflective learning as she continues her professional training.

Approach

Arina works with individuals and families across all stages of life, with a particular interest in supporting women, children and adolescents. Her areas of focus include anxiety, emotional regulation, grief, stress and adjustment during life transitions, and self-esteem.

Warm, curious, and client-centred, she is drawn to an integrative way of working and is deepening her practice in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT). She believes every person holds more inner resources than they realise and that by reconnecting with their strengths and values, meaningful and lasting change becomes possible.

More About Arina

Outside of the therapy room, Arina enjoys watching and playing live music whenever she can. She believes art is healing in itself whether that is picking up an instrument, making art with her five year old, or singing a song. It is a way for her to practice being mindful and to appreciate the present moment.
