Counsellor-in-Training
Melissa is a counsellor-in-training, and is currently completing her Postgraduate Diploma Psychotherapy and Counselling at The School of Positive Psychology, Singapore.
Before moving into counselling, Melissa built over 8 years of experience in the tech corporate world. She understands first-hand the pressures of fast-paced, high-demand environment and the toll they can take on well-being. This background helps her connect with clients navigating workplace stress, burnout or major life transitions.
Born and raised in the Netherlands, she is fluent in both Dutch and English, and also spent part of her early schooling in Singapore. Having lived a total of around 16 years (and counting!) in Singapore across different stages of her life, Melissa understands the challenges of cultural transitions and identity shifts.
Melissa’s therapeutic interests include working with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, stress, life transitions and questions of identity. She adopts an integrative and evidence based approach, drawing on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), mindfulness-based practices and trauma informed techniques. Her focus is on creating a safe, collaborative space where clients feel supported to explore their inner world and move towards menaingful change.
Outside of clinical training, Melissa enjoys working out, cooking and has recently taken up painting classes.
