Background And Experience

Neena brings nearly three decades of experience working with and understanding people – their motivations, relationships, identities, fears and aspirations – across cultures and life stages. Her career in human and cultural insights gave her a deep appreciation of how our experiences, environments, relationships and cultural contexts shape the way we see ourselves and the choices we make.Having lived and worked across Southeast Asia, the Middle East and the USA, she is particularly attuned to the ways culture, family, relationships and environment influence our sense of identity and belonging. She understands that the same experience can carry very different meanings for different people in different personal and professional contexts. Her background in Applied Positive Psychology provides a foundation in strengths, meaning, flourishing and self-reflection, and informs her interest in the conditions that enable people not simply to cope, but to build more fulfilling lives. Now training as a counsellor, she brings these life experiences, professional expertise and perspective into her therapeutic work, supporting clients who are seeking greater self-understanding, navigating periods of change, or feeling stuck between who they have been and who they want to become.

Approach

Neena’s Masters’ research in Applied Positive Psychology explored the relationship between choice around motherhood and wellbeing, deepening her interest in supporting women navigating questions of motherhood, identity, expectations and choice. Her experience as a board committee member of the Autism Association of Singapore has also deepened her understanding of the experiences and needs of caregivers supporting individuals on the autism spectrum.

Neena is passionate about working with individuals who seek deep self-awareness, a greater sense of resilience, purpose and fulfilment, meaningful self-improvement to live a fuller and more enriched life, and support through life transitions. She brings curiosity, warmth and a genuine respect for each client’s individual experience, meeting people where they are rather than imposing a predetermined path for change.

She takes an integrative, collaborative approach to counselling, drawing on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) and Narrative Therapy according to each client’s needs. She believes therapy is not about providing ready-made answers, but about creating a safe, non-judgemental space for clients to better understand themselves, explore patterns that may be keeping them stuck, and develop greater choice in how they respond to life’s challenges.
