Background And Experience

Nicholas is a Counsellor-in-Training completing his Master of Counselling at Monash University (Singapore).

Before entering the counselling field, Nicholas spent over a decade in global commodities trading. This professional background gives him a deep, first-hand understanding of the pressures that come with high-stakes careers such as burnout, identity, performance anxiety, and navigating complex interpersonal dynamics in demanding environments.

Nicholas holds a BSc and MSc in Economics from SMU, and is working towards being ICF-certified coach, where he developed specialised competencies in supporting professionals through career transitions, relationship challenges, and emotional resilience. He is also a certified Enneagram practitioner, which informs his approach to helping clients understand their core motivations and patterns.

His academic and professional journeys converge in a genuine curiosity about people – what moves them, what holds them back, and what makes lasting change possible.

Approach

Nicholas takes an eclectic, client-centered approach – drawing from CBT, ACT, and Solution-Focused Therapy to tailor each session to the individual. He does not apply a one-size-fits-all framework; instead, he listens carefully and adapts to what each client needs at each stage of their journey.

He creates a warm, non-judgmental space where clients feel safe to explore both the practical and emotional dimensions of their concerns. Sessions are collaborative: Nicholas works alongside clients to build self-awareness, identify patterns, develop coping strategies, and move towards meaningful, sustainable change.
His background in high-pressure environments also means he is comfortable sitting with complexity and ambiguity – he understands that real life rarely fits neatly into frameworks, and that the therapeutic relationship itself is a key ingredient in any progress.

More About Nicholas

Born and raised in Singapore, Nicholas has always been drawn to understanding why people do what they do – the stories we tell ourselves, the emotional patterns we repeat, and the moments that shift everything. His own journey from high-stakes trading to counselling was not a straight line, and that experience has given him a genuine appreciation for how courageous and disorienting real change can be.
He is an avid traveller who finds clarity in movement, whether that is snowboarding in the mountains, wandering through a city solo, or sitting quietly in nature. He loves to journal, appreciates a good dark-humoured meme, and believes that the best conversations happen when people feel truly heard.

Nicholas brings to each session the same values that have guided his own transitions: humility, curiosity, and a deep respect for the pace at which each person heals and grows.
